Uploading Customer Lists to Facebook For Improved Attribution

We’ve already discussed some of the issues regarding attribution on Facebook Ads in previous posts, however, there is a way you can improve attribution.

You can use Facebook’s Offline Events attribution tool to get an additional layer of accuracy to add to the numbers you are reporting.

To do this, you will have to export a customer list from the backend of your site. From there you will have to reformat the data and ensure that certain information is included:

  • Value
  • Event time
  • Order ID
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email
  • Phone Number
  • City
  • County/Region
  • ZIP
  • Country

From there, export that to a CSV and upload it to the Offline Events area for your ad account. 


As long as your ad account is connected to the Offline Events area, some missed conversions will be updated in the ad account.
